You’ll unlock TM recipes throughout your journey, but you can find some already made around Paldea
If you’ve played a Pokémon game before, you know how integral TMs are to the franchise, and it’s no different in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It’s the major way to teach Pokémon new moves — including ones they may not be able to on their own. They’re a great way to target weaknesses and make your Pokémon more well-rounded for different battles. Interval Set
There are a huge amount of TMs — 171 to be exact — in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, spread around Paldea region. You can still find TMs around the world inside glowing yellow Poké Balls, but some are handed out as rewards, and you can also craft them, too. You’ll start the game with a few TMs in your TM inventory already; the number you can craft will grow each time you pick up a TM in a yellow Poké Ball, but also as you meet different milestones. Beating Team Star bases is one major way to unlock a number of TMs at once.
Once you’ve acquired the TM or its recipe, you’ll be able to craft it at the TM Machine at any Pokémon Center. Each TM has its own required resources — if you’ve got a TM recipe, you’ll see the needed ingredients clearly on the page. First, all TMs will require League Points, which are awarded from gym battles and Tera Raid battles.
TMs also need resources that you’ll acquire from battling wild Pokémon or earn from Tera Raid battles. Defeated Pokémon will drop resources related to them — Azurill Fur, Shroodle Ink, Torkoal Coal, and Maschiff Fang, to name a few. Some of the resources will be marked with question marks, but will reveal themselves once you’ve defeated whatever Pokémon the resource is attached to. The full list we’ve compiled below should help figure out which monsters to target to get the desired TM.
Here’s the list of TMs we’ve found and unlocked across Paldea and how to craft them. The world of Paldea is so big that you’ll probably need to do a bit of work to find or unlock these, but if it’s a TM you need to get you through a tough spot, it’ll be worth it. These are the TMs we’ve found and where we found them, with a few gaps filled in with the help of Serebii.
